Reasons Why We Cloth Our Dogs

Have you seen a small dog prancing around your neighborhood decked out in dog clothes? It is very rare these days to see a tiny dog that is not wearing some sort of clothing or hair bow or at the very least a rhinestone charm attached to his collar. Most people who dress up their dogs in cute clothes or collar charms do not do it for functional reasons. They just do it for the joy of doing it. Pet owners look forward to the new styles that are revealed every season or are excited about the new poochy shoe trends. When a child comes into the world, we make sure they are well taking care of. We make it a point to be sure that our children are trendy and have their needs met. Sure that is great but our children need to wear clothes and shoes, right? So, why do we dress up dogs when we do not have to do it?

There are so many different reasons that people dress up their tiny pooches in small dog clothes. Like said earlier, functional reasons do exist for dressing up our dogs, which range from protection from extreme weather to protection from the sun. This is not the top reason that we dress our pooches. There are several reasons that are at the forefront of the dressed up dog phenomenon in tiny dog clothes. Some people may dispute these reasons but they are not at all negative.

Reason one: One could argue that the sole reason is that dogs are adorable dressed up! There is no disputing that a little pup in an adorable little dress or a sweater is irresistible.

Reason two: We dress them up to draw attention. This is not meant to be negative. Dressing our dog up when we take them out for a walk in the park can make for great start up conversation. Anyway, we love it when people say our children are adorable. So why can we not love it for people to compliment our dog.

Reason three: Some pet owners use their dogs as an accessory to their own outfit. Many high society folks that you see carrying their dogs around with them, will change their dogs collar, clothes, shoes, hair accessories or carrying case to match what they are wearing.

Reason four: Expression! A story can be told about us by what we wear and how we present ourselves. The same can be said for what dogs wear. We can choose to show our own personality or our pooches mood through the dog clothes that we at owners choose for our pets.

People enjoy dressing up their pets and there is no question that this trend will continue. The only things that will change is the fashion itself.
